Beverly, Massachusetts, October 7, 2011 – Electric Insurance Company today announced the launch of a new mobile application with features that allow its policyholders to perform a variety of self-service actions using an iPhone® or iPad®
The new Always On® Mobile Application offers easy-to-use capabilities that include a simple way to submit an auto claim, check coverage status, exchange insurance information, call for roadside assistance services, schedule auto glass repair, and more.
The application includes a unique and forward-looking feature – an electric vehicle charging station locator. "Electric vehicles are a growing presence on American roads," said Michael Mucher, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "General Electric alone will have a substantial fleet in the next few years. As a GE affiliate company and provider of its fleet insurance, it's a given that we should provide an easy way to find a charging station."
The application will eventually include directions to Electric Insurance's own charging station, scheduled for installation in 2012. The planned GE WattStation™ will be available to the company's policyholders and the general public.
Electric Insurance CIO Tom Stumpek's approach includes an emphasis on development of mobile device applications. "Delivering mobile solutions to our policyholders and partners is a key business strategy. Providing online anytime tools that let users take immediate action when needed is a powerful service advantage."
Plans include expanding the application's features on an ongoing basis as the company introduces more product enhancements and additional services.
The application was created with mobile device strategy expert Sword Insurance. Stumpek selected Sword Insurance as a development partner based on their successful track record of delivering user-friendly iPhone applications for the insurance industry.
